Could a Latino be next on the Supreme Court?

Weeks after Barack Obama was elected president, we examined the possibility of a Latino judge being appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. That possibility has grown after Justice David Souter announced that he will vacate his post later this year.

One of the top names being mentioned to replace Souter is Sonia Sotomayor. She is a justice on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, is best known for agreeing with labor in the Major League Baseball strike of 1995. Sotomayor is “one of the nation's most prominent Hispanic judges” according to one law magazine. Her detractors consider her as a bully and not too bright though one former colleague wrote that she’s “entitled to be judged on the merits against a very strong pool of prospective nominees" instead of being smeared.

Despite the hoopla around Sotomayor, perhaps Obama has his eye set on another Latino judge. District Judge Ruben Castillo recently made Salon.com's top 10 list of prospects for the high court. According to the AP, another Latino justice is reportedly on the presidential shortlist:
Among those under consideration are Solicitor General Elena Kagan, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and U.S. Appeals Court judges Sonia Sotomayor and Diane Pamela Wood. California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno is also under review by Obama…

Most of the people confirmed as under consideration have been mentioned frequently as potential candidates. Moreno — the sole man on the known group of top candidates — is the newest name to emerge.

I do not think that Latinos should press for Sonia Sotomayro or for CIR = Comprehensive Immigration Reform - Stay quiet in first base, do not try to steal second.

Mr Obama and the Department of Justice, directed by Mr Eric Holder have a Golden Opportunity of Advancing American Justice and showing to all the World a better Nation than what Bush and Cheney built.

We expect a Great Breakthrough in Judicial History, overturning a Racist Trial of Infamy.

Mr Obama is assailed by many enemies, he is called a "commie" and a "coward before terrorists" by the most Idiotic TV anchors of Hate, that also happen to be Hidden Racists or Postracists.

Mr Obama has to guard his back against the many base attacks of all those Widows or Widowers of power.

Have you though of this ??

The president of the USA can not do what he wants or what is more rational or better. He has to be political and satisfy millions of fools.

Because Politics has Inertia or Momentum and you can not change course on a dime.

So, do not expect great changes like CIR = Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Sonia Sotomayor in Supreme Court and other happy endings.

Mr Obama should not make noise to wake up Dracula that is now dead in his coffin ( Republican Party ).

The best battle cry of Republicans is also the banner of Hate and Racism. The best politics for Obama is to do nothing in the Area of Latinos.

But the overturning of Infamy is something that all intelligent persons have to approve, all ethical and moral persons know that Murder and Coward attacks on any People can not be tolerated. Only scoundrels approve and applaud Cowardice and Bastardy.
