Hugo Chavez has recently taken up the charge in favor of environmental causes such as conservation of natural resources inasmuch as Venezuela is one of the top oil exporters to the U.S. “We want to give an example and be at the vanguard,” said Chavez last week, though taking such a position is a double-edged sword according to Nikolas Kozloff at venezuelanalysis.com.
